When a holiday is approaching I always hop on Pinterest and see what fun decoration I can find. I saw this Peep Topiary Centerpiece for Easter which looked so cute and colorful, but would I be able to pull it off? I got the idea from Jessie Cross’s from The Hungry Mouse. Check out her post with instructions here.
I went to the store to grab the supplies. In total it cost around $17-$18 which isn’t too terrible and most stores will have all the supplies you need.
Now the fun part of putting it all together. From start to finish it took around 30 minutes, again not too bad and it’s pretty simple to do. You stick a toothpick into the Styrofoam ball then shove a peep onto it. I’m kind of a perfectionist so I’m not a huge fan of the Styrofoam showing, but it still looks cute.
Is it worth it? NAY – Shortly after I got it all together gravity started working against me. I was taking pictures and Peeps were falling off constantly. There are some other cute ideas that would have the same effect and you wouldn’t have to worry about your centerpiece falling apart.
I saw this really cute idea of putting some Peeps on kabob skewers and making a bouquet out of it. I had a few and I think if I had more this would look awesome, stay looking awesome as long as I wanted, and easier. Not saying you can’t do the topiary, because I mean it is adorable, but I recommend putting two toothpicks into the Peeps you put on the bottom as support. If you don’t plan on eating them then you could always hot glue them to the ball as well! A little more work, but whichever look you’re going for it can happen. Just don’t do what I do and forget about gravity!
