Okay for all you people like me I will answer your weight loss questions right away. This saves you lots of time skimming through this article and then you can actually take time to comprehend the amazingness I’m about to tell you.
- You do not have to buy any supplements, patches, drink mixes, etc.
- To date, I have lost 8 pounds in about 6-7 weeks.
- I did not work out at all. I don’t enjoy it and I really wanted to test this food plan.
- No calorie counting, no point counting, no counting at all. Its “Food Freedom”.
Now your like…TELL ME ALL THE SECRETS. First things first. I am a momma who has an 11 month old boy and had extra weight to lose. You know those extra 10 pounds plus more because you weren’t at your ideal weight to begin with? That’s me! On top of all that, I work from home so the last thing I wanted to do was add more to my plate. We are talking no special workouts or foods that take years to make. S-I-M-P-L-E that is what I wanted and that is what I found. I do NOT know why this plan isn’t more widely talked about. I Hate working out (yes with a capital H). Its not fun to me and between a baby and working I don’t want to make time. I love sleep so don’t tell me to wake up early. Trust me, it won’t work. I love food and I enjoy it. Ask my husband, if we are at a family function I will graze all day long. It just is so delicious. Sound familiar? Then keep on reading….Ten reasons why I love it and I think you will too:

It’s an amazing plan come up by two sisters named Pearl and Serene, they call it Trim Healthy Mama. I heard about it on a work trip, went onto Amazon, and grabbed the kindle version to instantly start. You can grab it here. I will tell you the basics, but you really need to support them and order a copy. It’s less than $20 and worth more than its weight in gold. Plus they explain it a million times better than I ever could. You will not cut out any food groups, you will not limit sweets, as they call it “FOOD FREEDOM”! You have 4 basic meals, “S” meals which are full of fats, “E” meals which are full of carbs, Crossovers which contain both fats and carbs, and Fuel Pulls which is low in fats and carbs. It’s all about balancing these and finding the right combination for you. What works for me may or may not work for you. For example, I may eat more “E” meals than you because my body wants or needs those carbs. Trust me once you read through the plan it will make more sense. It will be confusing so take it slow. If your not a mama this plan is for you too! Anybody can be on this plan. I have heard of teenagers on the plan and it is benefiting them.
You can eat sweets and still lose weight!
I have a giant sweet tooth so telling me to not eat chocolate makes me want to eat more. The plan is all about not spiking your blood sugar, but still consuming natural products. The on-plan sweeteners are stevia, xylitol, erythritol, monk fruit, honey, and a few others I can’t remember. There are some you have to limit, like monk fruit and honey because they do spike blood sugar, but there is a place for them. When I started the plan, the first thing I did was buy their sweeteners because I know I have a sweet tooth and that is my downfall when losing weight. You can go to their website, https://trimhealthymama.com/, or just grab some truvia or stevia at your store. **NOTE: some stevia is mixed with ingredients you don’t want like maltodextrin so be cautious.** Their book explains all this by the way.
No shame or guilt
They are huge on not shaming people because just because you eat off-plan for one meal or one day, you can always jump back on in 3 hours. They want you to eat every 3-4 hours to keep your metabolism up. So say you eat just like crap for breakfast. Don’t sweat it, just jump back on a few hours later. The other great thing is I do not eat 100% on plan, more like 80-90% and I doubt I will ever be on it 100%. You need to stay away from starchy vegetables like russet potatoes and corn. How do you live in Indiana and not consume your weight in sweet corn in the summer? How do you not eat french fries? You will still be considered a Trim Healthy Mama or Papa, or Person even if you do not eat like them. You make the plan fit into your life, you do not make your life fit into the plan. I think this is why a lot of diets fail and why this one is the best I have found.
No exercise (unless you want to)
They don’t push you on exercising, but on the flip side they don’t say not to exercise either. They often say everyone is in a different season of life. I may be in the season where I’m taking care of babies and do not have a lot of spare time. Some people enjoy exercising so go for it! I love it. I don’t want to do 40 minute (or 10 minute) exercises every day. I just want to live life. You can feel the guilt of not exercising lift off of you as the pounds melt away.
You can eat this way 100% of the time
I was looking for a diet that I could do while pregnant or nursing because when we are ready to have our next kid I don’t want to pack on the pounds. I just want to be healthy and not withhold nutrients or anything from that kid. Literally I can eat the same way. Actually, I just will eat more crossovers which I’m totally fine with.
My husband and kid like the food
My biggest thing is when your on a diet you don’t want to cook a completely separate meal for your family right? The cool thing is you can just make different, healthier side dishes for you and switch them out. So I may eat a baked sweet potato over a baked russet potato. Nothing wrong with that! I’m also a big fan of trying recipes. It is fun to me so I grabbed their cookbook (another one comes out September 12!!) and pulled out a few meals I that sounded good. My husband (and I) both agree these meals are better than any other Pinterest recipe I have tried. You can grab these on Amazon as well. Here is their current cookbook and here is the new one you can preorder. I’m totally eating a piece of their trimtastic chocolate cake as I write this and feel no shame.
Can be on-plan without buying special ingredients
They do use special ingredients like collagen, whey protein powder, MTC oil, and others to name a few. You do not NEED them to be on-plan. You just may have to get creative on some of the recipes or just adapt them to the ingredients in your pantry. I will say what they charge on their website is super reasonable, but you will be charged shipping. Besides sweetners the only special ingredient I have is whey protein powder because I’m trying to lose weight so I drink lots of smoothies for snacks or even a meal replacement.
They are Christians
They are Christians, but any religion is allowed to eat on plan. I just love this part because they got tired of all the diets and what man has to say about eating. Especially because it changes every year. They decided to turn to the bible and see what it said about food. It’s pretty insightful if you believe in God, but again you can disagree with their religion and still be on plan. No one is turned away.
They are funny, quirky, accepting, and totally relatable
They started a podcast (they call it the poddy) and as I am listening I am laughing because of their quirky banter with each other. They mention all the time how they do not mean to offend anyone and try their best not too. That’s one reason it took them 5 years to write their first book which was over 600 pages. I linked you to the shortened version that I started on. Trust me the 200 pages is hard enough to grasp at first. They just seem laid back and fun which is exactly like me so maybe that’s why I love it so much.
I’m losing weight
Yes one reason I love it is because it is working. I’m enjoying my food, I get to eat pretty much whatever I want with a few exceptions or substitutes, and I’m losing weight. Eight pounds in 6-7 weeks is huge for me. There are a ton of testimonials that are even more amazing than that. I do want to point out that you may not lose weight right away like I did. Sometimes your body needs to heal or detox. Sugar detox is real. I had already started cutting out refined sugar prior to this plan but I still had cravings for about 2 weeks. I preferred to end every meal with something sweet before, but now that doesn’t cross my mind. If you don’t lose weight right away just don’t give up. A lot of people were in your spot and then hit a point where the weight started dropping. Not only does your body need to heal or detox, but it will take you some time to figure out the plan and be eating correctly. Just give yourself some grace and eat on!
